Feature Selection Parallel Technique for Remotely Sensed Imagery Classification

چکیده
Remote sensing research focusing on feature selection has long attracted the attention of the remote sensing community because feature selection is a prerequisite for image processing and various applications. Different feature selection methods have been proposed to improve the classification accuracy. They vary from basic search techniques to clonal selections, and various optimal criteria have been investigated. Recently, methods using dependence-based measures have attracted much attention due to their ability to deal with very high dimensional datasets. However, these methods are based on Cramer's V test, which has performance issues with large datasets. In this paper, we propose a parallel approach to improve their performance. We evaluate our approach on hyperspectral and high spatial resolution images and compare it to the proposed methods with a centralized version as preliminary results. The results are very promising. Keywords—feature selection; parallel algorithm; Cramer’s V Test; min-max association; image classification

PSO based Selection of Spectral Features for Remotely Sensed Image Classification
Spectral feature used in remotely sensed image classification are recorded in narrow, adjacent frequency bands in the visible to infrared spectrum. Due to narrow spacing, these features are highly correlated and provide some redundant information which may reduce classification accuracy. Hence discriminative feature selection technique is required for better classification. In this paper, we pr...
متن کاملA Comparative Study of SVM and RF Methods for Classification of Alteration Zones Using Remotely Sensed Data
Identification and mapping of the significant alterations are the main objectives of the exploration geochemical surveys. The field study is time-consuming and costly to produce the classified maps. Therefore, the processing of remotely sensed data, which provide timely and multi-band (multi-layer) data, can be substituted for the field study. In this study, the ASTER imagery is used for altera...

The inherent interpretability properties of fuzzy rule-based classification systems (FRBCSs) are undoubtedly one of their major advantages when compared to conventional black-box classifiers. In this paper we present a preliminary study of how the socalled technique of feature construction can prove useful in the context of land cover classification tasks using remotely sensed imagery. The meth...
متن کاملFeature Selection for Classification of Hyperspectral Remotely Sensed data using NSGA-II
This paper summarizes the implementation and performance of Nondominated Sorting Genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) [2] for feature selection of remotely sensed hyperspectral imagery. Two step processes have been followed. In first step, a feature subset is selected with optimum spectral and texture information content resulting in a smaller space to be searched in the next step. In the second step, a...

The main aim of the study was to assess the potential of a time series of remotely sensed data for the change detection of wetland in Hongze Lake in the Northern Jiangsu Province. The raw data comprised three digital images acquired between 1979 and 2002. The task proceeded in three parts. First, following pre-processing and registration to the topography at the scale of 1:100,000, the ETM+ ima...
